Associate, Communications and Content Strategy

High Street Equity Partners is a venture capital firm that invests in high-growth seed stage technology companies led by diverse founders. We leverage our operational, financial, and policy expertise ensuring our portfolio companies reach their full potential.

As a Venture Associate with a focus on communications and content strategy, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our firm's branding and messaging, as well as supporting our portfolio companies in their communication efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and content strategy for our firm, including creating and managing content across various platforms such as social media, email marketing, and our website
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to increase our firm's visibility and credibility in the industry
  • Support portfolio companies in their communication efforts, including creating and distributing press releases, coordinating interviews, and developing messaging and branding strategies
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the industry, and develop insights and thought leadership content to position our firm as a leading voice in the space
  • Collaborate with our investment team to develop compelling investment theses and marketing materials to attract new investors to our fund
  • Thorough data collection and tracking to ensure reporting to our LP stakeholders.
  • Draft meeting notes, capture key takeaways, and manage action items to effectively manage partnerships and accomplish content strategy annual goals, utilizing fellows to assist where necessary

Performance Requirements & Benchmarks

  • 150 deals (10% total goal) across our desk from comms efforts
  • 4 new investors driven from comms efforts
  • 1,000 organic followers on each social channel (twitter, linkedin, instagram, facebook). Total audience reach of 4,000.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in communications, content strategy, or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging and stories
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful content strategies across various platforms
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform decision making
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for startups, venture capital, and emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated experience of ethical leadership and strong social-emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills that build relationships with a team of consultants with varying skill levels, stakes and perspectives, and partners
  • Technical knowledge of the venture capital industry such as fundraising rounds and valuations
  • Experience interpreting data such as pitch decks, financial statements, business metrics, and making decisions based on this type of information
  • Experience with Monday.com, Typeform, and Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, and Calendar)
  • Experience working in diverse communities and across social, economic, and cultural differences

Compensation

Our Associates are compensated in two ways: Fund Management fee and Carried Interest fee.

<$50m fund: Annual Stipend (5-10% of annual fund management fees) plus 1.2% - 6.2% of Carried Interest fees.

>$50m fund: $132,000 - $291,000 Base Annual Salary (from annual fund management fee) plus 0.0% - 0.95% of Carried Interest fee.
